For the love of art….

Art has always been a way of expressing yourself where words can’t. Grasping the skill of making people see what you see and feel what you feel is what makes an artist.  Graffiti is a form of art based on spray paints and marker pens often displayed in public areas especially on walls. In Nairobi graffiti is a huge part of expression. Most matatus are covered in creative paintings of artists and famous punchlines, and on certain city walls anonymous graffiti artists use their art to bring out controversial social and political issues. When I stumbled upon this wall, I thought it was beautiful and a great representation of pop culture prompting me to do a photo shoot with the wall as my background.

At first I was quite skeptical about how the bright colors on my dress and the wall would blend in. But it all came together and I felt a part of my bright and vibrant energy shine. A quick tip about wearing bright colors is not to fear them but to find the right combinations that blend together and with your skin tone. You will be surprised by how much colors can affect your psyche and mood. As usual, I always like pieces that are unique and have something a little extra, like the fun, beaded detail around my neckline. I also added a pink sling bag that I got from Millie’s Fashion House, to add onto the burst of color.

I love the bright popping colours that the dress possesses and delivers on a bright sunny day walking down the graffiti prone streets of Nairobi. Its perfect for your occasional day concert, festival or street fare as well as a spending your weekend at the farmers market.
